What is ClassMouse? |
ClassMouse is a secure, real-time web utility that guides elementary educators and students to educational resources aligned with Ontario curriculum expectations. Its suite of components facilitates, enhances and differentiates curriculum delivery.
The integrated on-line tools directly connect students, teachers and support staff to tens of thousands of exceptional educational resources. The experienced professional educators of the ClassMouse Team continue to research and develop content that is organized by user type, grade level, subject area, subject strand and curriculum expectation. Built-in versatility allows for a spectrum of uses including research, lesson delivery, skill reinforcement, assessment and exposure to rich media.
The ClassMouse System is designed to satisfy the ever-changing content demands of the educational community. Different packages are available to meet the needs of individual school boards, schools, teachers and students. Users benefit from rapid access to over 50,000 resources specifically related to the expectations of the Ontario Elementary Curriculum. All ClassMouse components help to better realize curricular goals by reducing content costs, saving time and inspiring students.

How do I access ClassMouse? |
ClassMouse is designed to be powerful, fun and easy to use for students, teachers and other school staff. The access procedure is unique for each school board. Individual subscriptions for schools, teachers or students are accessed by a unique login name and password. Contact your school principal, consultant, librarian or coordinator to obtain access information.
After login, follow the simple on-screen prompts. MouseSearch delivers content via specific keyword(s). MouseGuide delivers content via grade, subject, strand and curriculum expectation.

How is ClassMouse reflective of Ministry Initiatives? |
The ClassMouse team remains up-to-date with all the latest initiatives of the Ontario Ministry of Education. ClassMouse Components are designed to reflect those initiatives in literacy, numeracy & differentiated instruction. All Ministry expectations are updated with a "Process" labeled for each content title in mathematics. A Catholic edition is available.
The ClassMouse Resource Companion contains ideas to support Ministry initiatives, specifically in language and mathematics.

What kind of teacher content is available? |
Teacher content includes unit plans, lesson plans, classroom activities, teaching tools, lesson demonstrations, pictures and photos, printable assignments/worksheets, blackline masters, assessments, rubric/checklists, reference pages and library activities.

What kind of student content is available? |
Student content includes virtual tours/experiences, animations, manipulatives, demonstrations, problem solving, online lessons/tutorials, interactive learning tools, project/assignment tools, subject activity centres, skill reinforcement, research, photos and pictures, printable worksheets, educational games, free time activities, and accelerated/remedial support.

Is content suitable for students? |
Yes! The ClassMouse research team is made up of experienced professional educators that vet and/or develop expectation-specific content. Content is grade-appropriate and free of unsuitable material. All content satisfies strict inclusion criteria.

Is navigation easy? |
Yes! Content can be retrieved quickly and easily with two integrated components. The MouseGuide filters content according to grade, subject, strand and expectation. An option to enable or disable expectations is available. MouseSearch allows grade-specific topics to be chosen by keyword(s). Search results can be cross-referenced to subject strand and expectation. In both cases, controllable filters, titles and summary descriptions further categorize content for rapid retrieval. Separate teacher and student content satisfies user needs.

Is special software required to use ClassMouse? |
No. The only software required for ClassMouse is an Internet Browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox or Safari.
